Moving a Bitcoin mining fleet from China to North America and scaling it past 500 MW.

Atlas is the digital-infrastructure arm of CTH, a blockchain investment group: a Singapore-headquartered ASIC mining company with operations in North America, Northern Europe and Central Asia. When China banned cryptocurrency mining in 2021, Atlas moved its fleet abroad; by October 2021 it had bought more than 200,000 mining rigs, and it grew to more than 500 MW of mining capacity, with a further 1 GW planned. At the time, Atlas was the world's largest owner of the latest generation of Bitcoin mining hardware.

As COO and VP of Operations of Atlas Mining and Chief Commercial Officer of Atlas Technology, Chris spearheaded the company's North American expansion, reporting directly to Raymond Yuan, chairman of Atlas and CTH. He was Atlas's first employee in North America, opened its headquarters in Austin, Texas, and built a team of more than 45 people. He led the U.S. buildout: a multi-year colocation agreement with Compute North for more than 100 MW across Texas, Nebraska and South Dakota; Core Scientific as primary U.S. hosting partner for more than 100 MW; and Luxor for mining pool services across 100 MW. He was Atlas's named contact on those announcements and spoke for the company to Forkast and the South China Morning Post.
